BUDDHA'S BIRTHDAY 2004

On April 3rd, the sangha celebrated the birth of Buddha about 2500 years ago with a procession, ceremony, potluck lunch and birthday cake. Many children and adults attended.

The children formed a procession around the outside of the zendo.

 

The procession ended on the patio decorated with the children's art. Here, Family Coordinator Gene Bush helped the children tell the story of Buddha's birth with drawings they had made.
We chanted the Heart Sutra as everyone bathed baby Buddha in sweet tea.
